Just a little over a month ago, on March 16th to be exact, I contacted an amazing girl who would be such a positive presence in my life. Her name is Ciara Gale. She is the beautiful woman behind the blog CiaraLE.com motivating, inspiring, pushing people into healthy lifestyles through fitness and clean nutrition choices. The minute I became one of her PUSHers I made the best lifestyle choice for my heart, mind and body. In just 30 days, I altered my physical appearance and started the foundation for a healthy lifestyle. This all possible because Ciara and her blog provided the tools to succeed in and out of the gym.
Here is the email I sent Ciara March 16th:
I discovered you on Pinterest and have been so inspired by your blog and YouTube videos. I've been looking for a way to get motivated and back in shape and would love to see if this might be a good program for me.
A little about myself ... I grew up competitively swimming and was probably in the best shape of my life until a knee injury. After surgery I rehabilitated with physical therapy while also slowly regaining strength in the pool. Although I was never as fast I was previously, I was still in great shape. If only I could go back in time and tell my 16 year old self how beautiful and thin I was! My height is 5'4" and during high school my average weight was 115 lbs.
During high school I developed a heart condition, neurocardiogenic syncope. This condition did slow me down a little and prevented me from participating in some sporting events and led to me missing a lot of school. After graduation I was diagnosed and put on medicine -- one being a medicine that basically helps me retain water and aid in blood flow.
I'm 27 now. I gained the freshman 15 and lost it during the summer. The Sophomore 20 and lost 10. Graduated college at 125 lbs. Now I'm at 140 taking double the medicine I was in high school. I'm not sure how to properly balance working out and staying healthy with my heart condition.
Back in January of 2012, I was in the gym 3-4 days a week just focusing on cardio. My longest stay on the elliptical was 50 minutes. I was really proud of myself but after having not one but two biopsies, I stopped going to the gym and instantly gained back the few pounds I lost.
I'm ready to get back in shape especially now that it's almost the summer and I'm getting married in 98 days! I think as long as I get ample protein, water, and sleep along with a great diet and I stick to your plan. Do you have any advise for looking good while carrying water weight? I will probably always have water weight and just have to learn to be ok with it. I loved that in one of your videos you mentioned that you were carrying water weight and you seemed to have so much self-confidence as you said it! You're so inspirational!
Sorry for taking up too much of your time. I would love to sign up for the push and get nutritional/fitness advice!
Once I became a PUSHer, Ciara developed a fitness and nutrition plan just for me. As much as I hate posting my before photo to my personal blog, it is absolutely necessary to see where I was and how far I've come following Ciara's plans. The focus of her plan is weight lifting and building muscle! She and everyone in the fitfam help keep everyone accountable during the 30daypush by daily photo-tracking. Keep in mind, these photos are not meant to be self-indulgent or vein by any means. I want to give credit where credit is due and while I pushed myself most of April in the gym - I truly have CIARA GALE to thank. For those interested in more information regarding the 30daypush, being forever apart of a fitfam, I encourage you to contact CiaraLE and follow her blog. She has changed my life and I will be forever grateful!
*Note: I'm definitely open to answering certain questions about my process. While the challenge is free, she has rates for PUSHers that include personalized nutrition and fitness plans.
